With ergonomics on the rise in many facets of manufacturing, engineers are always looking for solutions that are easy to implement. This was a situation that BUILT encountered with one of our global customers. Knowing that tailored solutions are something that the BUILT Systems’ team can make happen, this customer wanted to know if we could take it to another level. When presented with this request, the Engineering team worked to develop the perfect product to fit the needs of the end-user.
This specific request was to design a height-adjustable workstation with a “tilt-able” work surface.
To make this happen, the team at BUILT needed to take the existing assembly table model and tweak it to allow for a tilt worksurface. Using existing and proven design methods, the engineering team began creating a hybrid product line to fit exactly what this customer requested.
The Problem
The need for a workstation with a tilt worksurface to allow for easier assembly of automobile doors and door panels.
The Criteria
The workstation needed to have a stainless steel work surface that could electrically tilt up to 60-degrees.
Brainstorming and Design
The design team at BUILT quickly went to work to develop this workstation. Several meetings along with emails, phone calls, and CAD, provided the team with all the necessary details. Once the initial criteria and ideas were set, the engineering team went into designing this solution. Taking our existing height-adjustable and modular standard assembly table and adding an electric-adjustable tilting work surface creates the perfect electric tilt workstation to allow for easier assembly. This resulted in a product that is exactly what the customer ordered. This product is something that we at BUILT are proud to display.
